Putting the herb beds to sleep
Autumn work in the herb beds is mostly about restraint. Woody herbs like thyme, sage and rosemary do not want a hard cut this late; a light tidy is enough.
The soft herbs are a different story. Basil is finished, parsley will carry on for a while, and the chives can be divided now while the soil is still warm.
